A few dozen signatures and a couple of checks since my last post and we are now officially "Red Pin People!" By that, I mean that we've locked in a down payment that secures our home site and gets us under contract. 1019 Shira Court will be ours! (Don't send any mail yet, though... it's just a pile of dirt right now!) The paperwork we signed even included a potential closing date of May 4, 2018 (Star Wars Day!) This is as real as it gets right now!
Next up, Color Selection meeting with the builder on December 3rd and a meeting with the kitchen & bath contractor before Christmas! The process with this builder is nice because we have the opportunity to meet with the contractors directly to make any modifications to the standard feature selection (which is already a lot more impressive than other builders we looked at). If we want to stray from the standard 2 1/2" hardwood floor, we can work out those details with the contractor without that cost being marked up by the builder rolled up into our mortgage. We'll work directly with kitchen & bath contractors, flooring contractors, electrical, and home wiring contractors. Definitely a nice change from other builders we spoke with! I'm a bit picky about flooring, I want an excess of lighting and ceiling fans, and we'd love to have some small design signatures in the bathrooms. Here's hoping we don't break the bank on those changes!
Now, let the arguments over granite colors and faucet styles commence...
